This unit needs to be shut down before more preventable deaths occur, I was a patient myself and on more occasions than I can count on both hands I became worries about other patients who were in their bedrooms, these patients wouldn’t have been checked on for another 45 minutes, on three of these occasions patients were found unconscious and barely breathing, one was found in Peri-Arrest (the stage before full cardiac arrest).
Another thing to note is the high number of suicides that have happened on the ward with patients who should have been on 1-1 care, in one case they didn’t find the patient had deceased from a suicide attempt until the next morning, around 4 hours later.
This place needs to be closed immediately.

You’d be extremely unlucky and unfortunate to be seen by the Home treatment team here.

Completely inadequate. If you are already feeling low/struggling these people have 0% understanding and are a lack of help.

90% of the staff shouldn’t be working in mental health setting they don’t understand mental health / how you are feeling etc and don’t listen to what you say.

And when you take medication you are uncomfortable with they are disinterested/dismissive.

No support plan/lack of understanding/they hardly ever see you aswell.

This service is a complete failure.

most of staff do not care. They are rude/disinterested.
I apologise in advance if you are unfortunate enough to be seen by crisis team here.

The majority of staff were rude and disinterested in the patients (I was on Millbrook ward April 2021 for four weeks), there are a few staff who care but they are overwhelmed with workload, so they couldn't give patients the time to help them talk. The centre was more concerned with outward appearance than actually helping people - they wanted to palm you off to mind (who are also absolutely no help either) Oxleas really do need to completely retrain the vast majority of staff. It felt like they wanted to get shot of people as quickly as possible

The staff were awful. Ride, unhelpful, very dismissive and the majority have such a heavy African accent I could not understand them (and I speak 3 languages).

Many things like phone charger, blanket, tracksuit bottoms just vanished from my room, I complained but was ignored.
There is NOTHING to occupy your mind, no magazines, no telly , nothing.

I don't have a mental health condition but can imagine getting one of I didn't leave.

The staff need to be replaced immediately with real care professionals. It's hell!

Admitted for assesment on lanley ward I found the staff especially night staff judging and descriminatig and prejudice towards me. I found one female member of staff asleep on the patients sofas. the drinking water and hot water tap was broken in the patients kitchen. Kitchen very smelly
There was no freash juices in the morning at all no butter for toast in the morning and a horrible looking porradge left out in silver containers. The whole of the ward smells and is very unhygenic as you have patients that have not washed in over 3 weeks left to walk around and sit on the same chairs as you making my anxiety worse. no attempts to help or encourage the male into the shower.
I was shocked to see staff in the office eating macdonalds and KFC infront of patients every day.this dose not encourage patients to eat healthy. There was never any fruit or anything healthy to eat. Bacon in the morning for breakfast on a Sunday and pork againfor main meal not much choice of freash healthy meals for patients. Staff entering the kitchen to use patients cerials.
Staffs attitudes need to change before the patients will ever get any better on one occasion a male member of staff entered my room I am a female while I was asleep to bring me medication because i overslept i woke very anxious leaving me very angry and upset. I felt violated. That should not be allowed a female member of staff should enter if needed not a male in a female side of the ward. This left me feeling like I wasn't in controll of what I was taking as i was still very sleepy on medication from the night before this has left me feeling very anxious.

Woodlands is the best ward I’ve ever been on. Staff are lovely and caring (esp Susan, Bayo and Remi I’ll never forget you guys saved me). Bit sad the cheesy mash is off the menu now but otherwise 5*
