Christy is an excellent therapist; she has a thorough understanding of OCD and has tailored sessions to meet the needs of my daughter. She has gone to great lengths to provide a comforting, safe and supportive environment for my daughter to be able to share and work through her intrusive thoughts and feelings. We would highly recommend the services of The OCD Treatment Centre to anyone suffering with OCD.

My daughter who has been overwhelmed with OCD for over two years was comfortable in a group therapy session and connected with Sharon. She has come away after the intensive week with more knowledge and understanding of OCD which makes her feel more in control of the condition. She came away feeling listened to and with some strategies to beat the ‘bully’. Thank you

Working with Christy at the OCD treatment centre has been the most helpful treatment I have found for my OCD. The use of a variety of therapeutic models such as ACT, ERP, I-CBT etc was what drew me towards the centre as ERP on its own hadn’t been effective for me before. It’s been super helpful especially working with someone who has experienced OCD themselves so you feel they understand what you are going through. Both learning to understand the way OCD works so I could identify it within myself and having new tools have helped reduce the impact OCD has on my life and continue to build this practice.

My son Morgan has recently finished treatment with Christy Green @ OCD centre. Morgan's condition is very severe and involves a lot of procedures etc.
Christy was just the right fit for Morgan (and me!).
She was always very kind, gentle and understanding. Any other approach just simply wouldn't work for Morgan.
On a lot of days we felt that we weren't always very well prepared; however Christy was always able to drag something out of us and find a positive which we weren't always able to see.

I recently underwent the 4 day intensive treatment course at the OCD Treatment Centre and am incredibly happy with the therapy I received. I have been in and out of various forms of therapy for the last 15 years with minimal help and my OCD getting worse and worse. Even though the course was 4 days long I can honestly say I felt I made more progress and felt more positive about recovery than any other therapy I've received over the years. Sharon was absolutely wonderful to work with and really understood what I've been going through. It really gives a wonderful foundation to start your recovery.

My son attended for an intensive one to one program with Sharon Davies and the change in my son was simply incredible. OCD had completely taken over his life to the point where he no longer wanted to carry on . After a smooth and caring booking process with Michelle , he arrived broken and unable to to the simplest of task but left completely transformed. After months of him suffering and trying the NHS , I found their only answer was medication and to just get on. Sharon taught him how his brain worked so he could finally make sense of it all and then built from the bottom up so with the new understanding, he was able to overcome his compulsions. Sharon gave me my son back and gave my son his life back . The centre is simply amazing and Sharon is the most incredible therapist. The whole experience has changed his life and I can not thank them enough .

Amazing experience. I've spent a long time searching for a therapist/treatment that would help me to truly deal with my mental health problems which have affected my life so severely over the last 7 years. Finally, I was told by a friend that this was a place that could really make a difference - and it did make a difference and has helped me enormously, far beyond I even expected. Craig is one the top professionals and therapists I've ever encountered in my search to help my mental health. Furthermore, hes a genuinely lovely bloke who made the experience enjoyable as well as life changing. Thank you so much for your help. Everyone else I met was professional and lovely and made me feel very much at home. Thank you to Michelle for making my time there even more enjoyable. I went for intensive course and it was incredibly worthwhile.

I really wanted the 4-day intensive to help me and I was somewhat relying on it to work to prevent an inpatient admission to a specific OCD unit. Unfortunately, I have been unable to make any progress from the course and in some ways have gone backwards to a degree.

It is an expensive program and I understand that as the therapists are highly qualified it does need to be however for the amount of money I had to save and then spend on the program whilst it feeling like a last ditch attempt of making progress towards recovery I was disappointed.
As a whole I can see that the program could be helpful for people, and I think some of it would be useful for parents/ carers/ partners but as someone with OCD I did not find much benefit.

There was a lot of education about what OCD is and how it develops including a lot of information on neuroplasticity and psychoeducation and we were given a booklet that covered this over the span of 4-5 A4 pages. Personally, I felt like this was a lot of education and whilst it being useful to look into how the brain works, it was a bit of overkill and most of the program felt like it was all focused on this and less focus on ERP or progressing with recovery.

There was a large section of the program cut out for mindfulness and meditation, again I am aware this can be helpful for some people however I felt like it was just trying to fill time by sitting a group of us in front of a TV to watch mindfulness videos for 20 minutes whilst the therapist went away from the group. There were some elements such as progressive muscle relaxation and diaphragmatic breathing that I felt were helpful but again there was a very firm push towards mindfulness the entire time and I had thought the program would have worked more towards ERP or at least challenging some OCD thoughts.

We did 1 ½ days of ERP and even then it felt quite limited, we were taken outside to touch traffic light buttons or sit on park benches which was helpful (albeit hard/ stressful) for those with contamination OCD but there wasn’t any form of mention of Pure-O thoughts and mental compulsions or distress from thoughts which I feel would have been of massive benefit. It was all driven very heavily to contamination OCD and physical compulsions and lots of discussion about ‘germs being good for you’ and handwashing rituals.
In addition to this I am aware the group I attended was a generic OCD group and not the one that covered more sensitive/ stigmatised types of OCD however someone did bring up other forms of OCD away from contamination including P-OCD and was met with responses from the group that it was “disgusting” and “how can people think like that” as well as “we shouldn’t talk about that its gross”. I understand there can be stigma surrounding certain types of OCD and a lot of it is related to lack of education or understanding about OCD being ego-dystonic but during this discussion there was no comment made by the therapist to at least say that all types of OCD are valid and people aren’t ‘disgusting’ for the content of their intrusive thoughts.
