Very good beginners taster class, split time 50/50 on throwing wheel and hand building pitch pots. Got plenty of time with tutors and care given to each person in their chosen designs. Taking you through each steps. All really lovely instructors, would definitely recommend. Parking down the road is easy. And building is easy to find and get to. They meet you at the door and bring you in.

I initially came to the Clay Room for a 6 week course to get me out of a time in life I was struggling with. I was hopeful the class would help bring out the creative in me and allow me to “be me” again. The reason I share this is that I’m now two years in, I’ve made friends, I love my class and I love the craft. The class gave me a starting point to what I was hoping for. If you are looking for a class to help bring that spark back, I can confirm it can and it will. All the teachers are fab and so different, you can really learn so much about the world of pottery!

Fantastic experience. I had a three hour one-to-one lesson - Sophie was really patient and so supportive. She’s an excellent teacher, giving clear, easy to understand instructions and really useful feedback. I had an enormous amount of fun and would love to go back for more. From complete novice to the maker of several stress-free pots - couldn’t ask for more

Sophie and Cat are fantastic teachers - had a really enjoyable morning at the Clay Taster Workshop and am delighted with what I've made, both on the wheel and by hand. I have never done any pottery before and was worried I wouldn't be very good, but with their guidance I was truly amazed at what I achieved. Will definitely be back - it's great fun!

Bought my wife a 2 hour throw down taster for her birthday which we shared yesterday. We had an awesome time with our patient instructor Sophie.
She generously shared ger knowledge with 2 complete novices and some how we managed to each turn out 2 pots from the wheel.
Would totally recommend anyone to try and enjoy.

The Clay Room in Orpington is fantastic, I came for a six lesson taster ten years ago, completely hooked and have been going ever since!
Teachers are very experienced and very supportive on your journey through all of the different techniques used in ceramics.
You will come away with something special and unique to you.
It’s been a way to make me finish work at a sensible time to get to my class every week.
Absolutely love being there.

My daughter and I have both done the taster throwing workshop at the Clay Room and loved it! It's quite tricky if it's your first time but it's a very small group so you get lots of support :-). We both produced pots which we love - thank you so much! Can't wait to come back!

I attended a taster workshop at the Clay Room. I would highly recommend it to anyone, especially if you have never used a wheel or pinched a pot. Sophie and Cat were both very knowledgeable and friendly. The little group I was in, were also very friendly. Everyone was very happy with what they had produced. Cat and Sophie went through each step required and were at hand to help anyone who was struggling. Most who attended had never attended a pottery class before.
