Care does not exist at Pavilion Ward. My brother was a patient for 5 weeks. After four weeks here, and only after I complained because they presented my 46 year old brother to me after he'd wet himself, they finally found bags of clothes he'd arrived with and when he eventually left, they didn't check him out to ensure he had his phone, wallet with £80 cash and phone charger. Even prisons get thus part of 'care' correct. Still waiting to hear where these items are. When you eventually get through to someone they sound like they hate talking to people, they don't answer questions clearly and dodge any accountability. CQC investigation ongoing. If you're going to work in this area of care, you need to care.
Currently on hold while a disinterested nurse checks a safe to see if my brother's valuables are there. It must be a safe in Scotland as I've been on hold long enough to write this review.

My mum was placed there this weekend for a so-called assessment. This is NOT a place for elderly ladies. It’s a disgrace. The toilet in her room was beyond gut wrenchingly disgusting. One of the senior male so-called carers is a huge guy who is really aggressive and really hostile to ANY criticism. Not even constructive. The senior nurse on duty was like a wet weekend. God forbid that anyone you love goes there. Oh, and even if you prove that anti-psychotics are making mental problems worse, they’re given anyway which puts the patient in extreme danger. Dreadful!

This place is a disaster and has been the ruination of me this is a disaster beyond belief I have been regency ward many times the state that i have arrived there in bears no relevance to my diagnosis.
from there i went to the ATS i was off my head on some medication which they did change. It was nice of them and they were all nice people i saw them again and again i strung it out for 18 months i was no different to when i first went there at the end of it all i asked what did i first come to see you for nobody knew anything nobody really knows what is going on at all if i had the things that i have read wrong with me i would be in a terrible state
seeing me and all that goese with it makes me realize why the health service is in such a state judging from this lot it neednt be between this place and portslade health centre i am lucky to be here i went to this place i managed to string it out for a year i was offered medication all sorts of things between this place and the portslade health centre there diagnosis system is mad i am one othe few people in this world whohas over come paranoid scitzophrenia with out any medication i was fortunate the dr at the portslade health centre lets call him Dr yellow spotted it first and with the combined help of millview working with Dr yellow i came through it well with out medication. The medication is dealt with by the pharmacy and they really were hot it was just that they knew nothing about any other condition i had and my god i have been seriously mentaly ill but i am getting over it one dr did not know why i was there i got on the wrong bus.No body can tell you ever the state that i was in when i arrived there the Dr has seen me told me i was ill the problem is it is like arriving there drunk and in a mess then when i see a Dr i am sober that is it a person could go in there painted blue then see the Dr the following morning cleaned up spotless the Dr would not know the person came in blue it is madness one doctor reads what the doctor has said before the fact that you see a Dr somewhere else like Dr yellow who really has not got a clue diagnoses you that goese down as gospel the NHS mental health service waists money like there is no to mmorow someone needs to sort these places out and get drs there that come with there own brain not some big comunual thing

Useless. Same as all other alleged "mental health services" in the area! Only a few genuinely caring listeners from the day and night teams. Many just say that 40 minutes is up, other calls coming through etc. PATHETIC.

Under a Section 136, I was treated well and discharged to Community care. No complaints from my time at the safe haven. I'm greatful I chose to stay alive! If your thinking about death it only hurts others and in the long run things do and will get better, make good choices, get into action and ask how can I get recovered rather than demanding the impossible.

The level of patient care and lack of access for family members to reach patients at this facility is diabolical and demands a thorough investigation.

I am posting anonymously as I don't want this review to affect the treatment that my relative receives at the Regency Ward. I have been shocked by the current system and lack of staff that I'm not entirely sure how beneficial this institution really is. It mostly serves as a purgatory place for patients to receive medical care without any genuine mental wellbeing facilities in place.

Ward rounds are recycled with patients under heavy scrutiny with psychotherapists failing to treat patients as real people. I've sat in multiple dismal meetings appalled by the interrogatory nature of the psychotherapists. One of them asked my relative during a ward meeting, "And how's the bed wetting?" knowing full well that this was a side effect of the prescribed medication but the general lack of empathy and poor framing of this question left my relative feeling ashamed and embarrassed. If you have a mental health problem isn't it bad enough that you have a doctor who's job is to get you better but only adds further injury to situation?

Families are sometimes the only support available for patients in need that if you are so understaffed that it takes 10 mins to get through each time you call then it makes it very difficult to be in any position to offer any form of care and support.

The system almost feels like it's designed to work against families with the lack of transparency in a bid to serve the patient's needs when they are not necessarily in the right state of mind. I've not seen any major improvements in the last 10 years or so, the UK's mental health sector needs an overhaul and rethink because if families are taken out of the equation and are not being communicated to then is it right to leave an unwell patient to their own devices only to find themselves back in the same place time after time?

It really is a hopeless place with no sign of looking to improve patient care. I very much would like the Regency Ward to take on board patient and family feedback to address the basic concerns and wishes so that there is a patient-first approach. One can only hope.

Neglectful if you're lucky..many deaths have occurred here. Bullying and abuse by patients including sexual, drugs easy to get in and out and also razor blades..it is unlikely to improve as they continue with lack of prevention, safety, understaffed and little to no after Care unfortunately many more unnecessary deaths will continue which could be prevented and don't even bother with ATS for aftercare they are a joke to the mental health care system

Saturday 21/10/2023 night at 9 o’clock I went to the hospital to give an order to the nurse. The man who was at the reception refused to help and spoke obscene words to me. I have been here for 15 years This has never happened to me so disgusting
