We saw this during Open House London. Its magnificent! The history behind it's disappearance and re-discovery is baffling, given that it is such a stunning room. I've visited a few other Masonic temples and this one is over the top in terms of opulence and quality. They keep it closed almost all the time (is it still used? the tour guide wouldn't say) but it is open at least once a year. If you can catch a tour, I definitely recommend it.

The Masonic Temple is, without a doubt, one of London's greatest hidden gem.

Hidden behind a wall for decades for the purpose of Freemason meetings, it was only recently discovered during renovations.

Neoclassic in style, the windowless room is known as the “Grecian Temple.” The opulent room includes an organ, dark and handsome mahogany chairs, bronze candelabras, and marble floors, columns, and walls. The ceiling, a blue and gold dome, bears with and zodiac signs.

Nowadays, it's can be hired for an event. If you're in charge of organising, then you're guaranteed to blow your guests' mind.

It's a must-visit for the curious explorer to marvel at.

Visited as part of Open House.
Given a tour and talk on the history of the building. It is on the original site of the Bedlam hospital. The current building is from the 18th century, where the railway hotel builder added a Masonic temple in the middle!
In the 70s it was "rooms by the hour" around here. And so they bricked up the temple, hidden until '96 when the new owner renovated it. It's still used by the masons but you can rent it out for events too.

Quite amazing masonic temple, hidden, buried under a hotel - you'd never know it was here. Quite the spectacle, lots of marble! Worth coming to see, even better as an events space!
