It was lovely to get back to classes today following the sadly enforced break. This is a wonderful, inclusive, supportive group that has helped myself and my daughter in law through some tough times. My pottery skills are improving!
Losing Chris has been a really harsh blow, such a lovely, talented man. We are all with you Elaine xx

I booked onto a throwing course about 6+years ago, and it was brilliant. Elaine and Chris have such a wealth of knowledge and their studio is equipped to do anything you can hope to make with clay. I've been coming back to their classes weekly ever since, and even though I've now got my own wheel, I still pop in for a chit chat while I get inspiration from what other people are making. If you're thinking of trying pottery and you're in Nottingham, I couldn't recommend Hands on Pottery enough.

I hardly ever leave google reviews, but I thought I'd just pop this one in here.
I was really looking forward to booking with these guys, having been given a gift voucher for my birthday. Working at antisocial hours meant that I first contacted them via email. After a few preliminary emails back and forth about booking a slot, I didn't receive any further response confirming my booking. I then emailed a few more times to see whether I could use the voucher, and received no response again. I tried calling a fair few times but no one answered, and I left a message on their Instagram account. Sadly, I wasn't able to go to the shop to enquire, as I live far away, and now my voucher has now expired. I'm quite sad about this as they clearly seem to do some amazing workshops and everyone seems to really enjoy them! I am probably just someone who slipped through the cracks, but I feel like this was quite an unprofessional way of managing enquiries. I'm sad to leave this review but I hope this really was just a one-off!

It was a nice lesson and found I learn a lot there but the teacher was late to the class which was a shame and ever since the class I’ve e mailed to see if can collect my pot I made and book onto more classes but have heard nothing. Disappointed with lack of communication.

Reported to trading standards.

I contacted Hands On Pottery on 9th November to enquire about booking onto one of their workshops. They confirmed that places were available and I paid £120 to secure a booking. They did not respond for over a week despite me contacting them multiple times to ask them to confirm the booking. When they replied, they said that the workshop was fully booked and they could offer a refund. I have now contacted them 4 times asking for the refund and providing my bank details. They have not issued any refund and are not responding.

Hands On Pottery have now had my money for over 3.5 weeks and are non-responsive. I have reported the business to trading standards.

I booked a workshop with Elaine as part of a hen weekend for a group of 9. We had such a great time and Elaine was really nice and a great teacher. We all said afterwards we would love to do it again. We can’t wait to see our final pieces!

Ran by an excellent potter, facilitator and tutor Chris, this is a very friendly and welcoming environment to learn how to pot. He helps you as much as you need it, gives you lots of positive encouragement and is full of ideas to help your project along.
I have been going for six months now and find it good because I work shifts and cannot commit to going every week. You only pay for each session you attend, not block booking and it is very reasonably priced at £4 per hour and then you pay for your finished products by their weight. I also find it very therapeutic to work with my hands and feel very relaxed at the end of each session; plus the added bonus of taking home something that I have created.
You can choose to go either on Tuesday or Thursday evenings 6.30 - 8.30pm and there is the potential to join some of the day time sessions too.
