Very rubbish experience at the hospital. Wait time in the A&E was 16hrs+. No intermittent checking and no updates from doctors. Never experienced such negligence before, was told we were not a priority even though family member had history of meningitis. Stay away if you’re an immigrant or person of colour as they won’t take your matter seriously. You’ve been warned. Worst hospital ever.

My 89 yr old mother fell and fractured her hip at the end of November 2024.
The day of her accident was horrific and unfortunately this experience has prevented her from recovering mentally despite the very good medical treatment she received after this.
She was too terrified to go back to her house and has ended up going into a care home instead.
She never smiles and stares straight ahead. She does not want to read anymore or do any activities. She became traumatised and depressed.
After her fall at home she was left lying on the floor in agony for 3 and a half hours before the ambulance came, then another 4 hours lying on a stretcher bed in A and E. The ambulance staff were kind and professional but they just did not have enough ambulances or staff. Why, why why?
My mother never had a serious accident her whole life and paid her taxes every year.
I remember wandering around A and E in a daze trying to find a glass of water for her, and begging for more painkillers when she screamed.
Treatment once she got her x-ray in the hospital was very good, my mother was given a brilliant operation on her hip the next morning and she was helped to recover well physically on the ward.
However despite this great medical treatment she never recovered from all those hours waiting for the ambulance in agony.

Day case: Hernia repair. All staff extremely attentive, patient, friendly and professional. Staff conducted checkups and brought me refreshments after operation whilst resting. An extremely positive experience from start to finish. Thank you GWH!

Excellent service received from the oncology team, including the surgeon and theatre staff for treating me with kindness and respect, transferred onto the recovery ward where once again I had great care and consideration from the nurses in particular to the nurse that was assigned to look after me unfortunately I cannot remember her name I will.put that down to anethestic, then transferred to Meldon Ward room 18, the nursing staff, ward orderly taking food orders and delivering meals and the cleaners every one gave me great care always checking that I had no problems and that I fully understood everystep of my treatment.
They turned what could so easily have turned into a stressful situation into one that I can honestly say made me feel that I could relax in the knowledge that I was being cared for by very experienced staff.

Cleanliness on the ward I visited was disgusting. Discarded swabs on floor, bins overflowing and encrusted floors. Needs inspection. Cleaner manouvered a mop around the ward for under one minute!

11/10 staff on the kingfisher ward.
Recently was on the kingfisher ward for 2 days.
The staff were so friendly, caring and professional.
Although the wait time was long (which isn’t their fault at all) they made the experience for me a lot lot easier.
I’m really bad at having bloods done, I pass out every time. The young lady with black short ish hair, I wish I knew her name, she was just the best person I’ve ever had, I didn’t even bruise. She was so gentle and kind and every other nurse and consultant were also so good to me.
I managed to get out slightly sooner the second day as the staff rushed to get me seen near the very end of their shift, again so grateful for this otherwise I would have spent another night waiting till morning.
So much appreciation and respect for these people. I wish they got more recognition and higher salaries for what they do, they are amazing.
Also a mention for the ultrasound department. Again seen quickly and treated with the upmost respect and care.

Thank you everyone

Alice
