I have used Caremark for a live in carer for my nan, I work in social care myself (not with Caremark) so I knew what level of care I wanted for her and I have been so happy with the service she has received, her live in carer is absolutely lovely, kind and patient. The office staff are super friendly and will find out answers for any queries and the management team have been great in doing any assessments needed.

Please note that all of the positive reviews are from employees. My review is based on CUSTOMER experience.

We were recommended a care plan by social services for mum who has moderate dementia. Having no previous experience of carers, I was led by the council's recommendation (boy, how wrong was I!). A year on, and I have terminated my mum's contract with Caremark. My final email to Caremark is below. Anyone considering using Caremark for their loved ones should seriously reconsider based on everything said in this email below:

Email sent 7th January 2024:

Dear Vicky,

After long consideration, I have decided that I no longer wish for Caremark to visit mum. THIS is the notice I am giving and I think that there will be no dispute after what I have to say. I will also be paying the last bill 'under protest', based on Caremark's failure to look after mum as requested (as well as the horrendous stress that I have endured in trying to get Caremark to do what it was paid to do).

First of all, I am disgusted that after I requested communication with yourself or Kris Owden, the supposed MD, on 5th December 2023, neither of you bothered to get in touch with me and a month later, I have yet to hear anything from either of you. Considering the fact that this was about an ongoing failure to wash and change mum into clean clothes (right after a recent complaint for not washing her, changing her and leaving her in the same underwear for SIX days), a lack of response is despicable. Not only did mum develop intertrigo under her breast from the lack of washing, which I presented to you via email, but she also developed it on her pubic area (something that I could have reported to you if you had bothered to follow up my request to speak to you on 5th December). The fact that I wanted to speak about this ongoing neglect and was outright ignored is disgusting and shows the contempt or apathy that Caremark has towards my mother.

Also, on 18th December, mum presented with a VERY large bruise on her upper right arm. Now, I do not know how she got this bruise but it was certainly not reported to me.

After I flagged the initial failure to wash mum for six consecutive days, a meeting was set up with your representative, when I requested a meeting with you personally. I will reiterate that Rue was uninterested, apathetic and I knew that nothing would change. I specifically requested, in front of the social worker, Mandy Cosgrove, that Margaret NEVER attended to mum again as the way she had dressed her in sub-zero temperatures was beyond neglectful; she dressed her in a flimsy, v-neck top with no jacket, no under garment and a thin pair of trousers. It was fortunate that I was coming to do chores in the house that day so I could quickly change mum into suitable clothing. However, shortly after this meeting, it was clear to me that Caremark wanted rid of my mum (and more likely, me), because on the first rota following that meeting, Margaret was listed for over 70% of the visits, which had NEVER occurred before; this was beyond spiteful. I reported this, in writing, to the social worker and she said this was disgusting. I should also point out that during the meeting with Rue, the social worker suggested that Margaret should be spoken to formally for her neglectful actions.

As well as these issues, I have countless video evidence of 'time theft', which frankly, I could present to a small claims court based on my own claim.

Now, I just want this exhausting experience to be over and to focus on providing mum the care that she deserves. Therefore, I do not think that you will have any disagreement about ending our contract. Frankly, if there is any objection, you can take me, as mum's POA to a small claims court. I will RELISH the opportunity to present the evidence that I have accumulated over the last year before a judge, as well as the CQC.

End of email.

I have being with Caremark for a while now and I bet you the experience is nothing short of awesome. I have tried other organizations but Caremark got the crown. The feeling that your opinion matters is everything for me. Their carers are all shades of professional. All concerns are treated as important and never swept under the carpet. I would give 10 stars if available.
