Absolutely horrendous place. I went in as a patient of my own choice then I was sectioned and abused by staff members for the majority of the time there . I was told I wasn’t aloud to see visitors because of Covid even though The pandemic had finished over a year ago and the ward was Covid free.

The nurses were emotionally abusive , the dr the lady Asian of decent Dr was extremely manipulative and accused me of being on heroin that was actually tramadol for an operation I had prior to admission . They told my parents I’d been taking it and this caused no end of issues and family problems .

One day I was in the gardens and a female staff member came up to me and said I could confide in her about my thoughts of my situation and how I felt the drs were doing . She said she was independent of the hospital and not aloud to share advice . I told her , 10 minutes later the female (of Asian decent) dr came and demanded a meeting and threatened me with eviction from my apartment and said she would prevent me moving back to the area and I’d have to live in a rethink house . As a result I had to do so, lost everything.
I was physically restrained and man handled,

I was left to feel unsafe after another male patient entered my room in the middle and of the night and started shouting .

On another occasion I forgot to get a towel and pressed the call button. A staff member came and I asked for a towel. With that he left my door wide open deliberately to make sure all if the other patients could see me naked ! He laughed as he walked off .

The food was absolutely awful and was often asked if I’d like toast which was mouldy bread.

If I had the name of the female dr I’d report her to the quality care commission.

At the time and after discharge I was too ill and broken to report the systematic abuse on every level.

But after recently hearing that a friend had been through the same issues when sectioned id now like to complain to the relevant department.

I was on ashdown ward in 2022 whilst it was a female picu. I struggled a lot whilst i was there but the regular staff were brilliant and supportive. And even though im scared of drs (dont ask😅) dr mcintyre always tried to keep me at ease whilst seeing him. A big problem they had was there wasnt many permenant staff. It was full of agency most days and didnt know how the ward works, leaving the place in chaos. Also i didnt recieve any therapy, and there wasnt much to do on the ward to keep distracted.
