Wonderful art school with accommodation, a variety of courses and classes taught by experienced tutors set in a beautiful part of East Devon.

The venue is beautiful and it's a brilliant area, but the owner ruined the experience. We had rules laid out that allowed a festival-like wedding party. In the end one of the owners carried around a decibel meter, checking the noise levels at every opportunity.

Around the campfire we set up a wireless iPhone speaker to have some background music. Despite the volume being very low, the owner was not happy and wanted it turned down to the point where the fire was louder than the music.

It is insane to believe a wedding party would be a perfectly quiet situation, and despite even taking steps to make the noise levels lower; it seems the owner wanted absolute silence. This is understandable if we were in city suburbs, but this was miles away from the nearest town.

May I repeat that the venue is very nice, but the owners tenacious desires for a silent setting completely ruined the night for everybody.

My husband and I got married here last month and we had the wedding of our dreams. I absolutely recommend the Old Pavilion if you're looking for a wedding with a festival feel. The location is beautiful and the staff are exemplary.
